한강 러닝 완전 정복
잠실·반포·여의도·뚝섬 비교, 야간 안전, 코스별 거리·접근성.
The Hangang is the spiritual home of Seoul's runners. All 12 riverside park districts separate cyclists from runners and come fully equipped with restrooms and drinking fountains. But each district differs quite a bit in atmosphere, course difficulty, and access, so you'll enjoy it most if you pick the one that fits your habits.
1. At a Glance — The Four Most Popular Districts
| District | Distance (one way) | Highlights | Best Time | Access |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Banpo | 5.5km | Moonlight fountain show, night views | Evening, 8–10 pm | Express Bus Terminal Stn (Lines 3, 7, 9) |
| Yeouido | 8.4km | Cherry blossoms, 63 Building, flat | Mornings; spring nights | Yeouinaru Stn (Line 5) |
| Jamsu Bridge / Ttukseom | 6.0km | You can run across the bridge itself | Mornings | Ttukseom Resort Stn (Line 7) |
| Jamsil | 7.0km | Lotte Tower views | Evenings and weekends | Jamsil Stn (Lines 2, 8) |
2. District-by-District Details
1) Banpo — The Ultimate Night-View Run
Run to the Moonlight Rainbow Fountain show (every evening, April–October). Linking Banpo, Jamsu Bridge, and Ttukseom, you can stretch it out to 12 km. The downside: in the evening, heavy cyclist and pedestrian traffic clogs the narrow sections.
- Suggested route — North end of Banpo Bridge → Jamsu Bridge → Hannam Bridge → back (10 km round trip)
- Facilities — 3 convenience stores, 5 restrooms, drinking water at the fountain
2) Yeouido — Spring Blossoms and a Marathon Start Line
At peak cherry-blossom season (early-to-mid April), it's the Hangang's finest spot. Its flat terrain also makes it ideal for a first 5K. It's also the start line for the JTBC Seoul Marathon and the Dong-A Seoul International Marathon.
- Suggested route — Yeouido Park → Mapo Bridge → Wonhyo Bridge → back (8 km round trip)
- Heads-up — During blossom season, weekday evenings and weekends get too crowded for intervals. Go for a long, slow distance run instead.
3) Jamsu Bridge & Ttukseom — The Appeal of Running Over the River
Jamsu Bridge has a walkway beside the road, making it almost the only bridge where you can run straight across the Hangang. At Ttukseom Hangang Park, the Jabeolle observatory and the marina views are the draw.
- Suggested route — Ttukseom Resort Stn → Jabeolle → Jamsu Bridge and back (7 km round trip)
4) Jamsil — The Peak of City Night Views
The Lotte World Tower view is overwhelming. The Jamsil Bridge–Seongsu Bridge stretch is well maintained and flat. The downside: cyclists are everywhere on weekends.
3. Safety Rules for Running the Hangang
- Night running — A reflective vest or LED light is a must. There's a real risk of collisions with cyclists.
- Summer — Before 9 am or after 6 pm. Midday heat is a fast track to the ER.
- Winter by the river — River wind makes it feel 5–10°C colder. A neck gaiter and windproof jacket are essential.
- Yellow dust and fine particulates — With PM10 above 80 or PM2.5 above 35, move it indoors. Check in real time on the RunnerOn app's Running Info section.
4. Finding a Hangang Running Crew
The Hangang has the most active running-crew scene anywhere. You can find a crew that fits your schedule through the RunnerOn app's crew search — search by city and time slot for things like "Hangang morning crew" or "Banpo night crew."
5. What's Next
- Once the Hangang feels familiar → Tancheon and Jungnangcheon: excellent cyclist-runner separation, flat, and linkable for 10–15 km
- Want to escape the city → the Bukhansan Dulle-gil (trail) or Olympic Park (flat, 6 km)
- For routes outside Seoul (Gwangalli in Busan, Sincheon in Daegu, the Jeju Olle trail, and more), use the location-based course recommendations in the RunnerOn app.
